Ending of Kernel support for version 4.7
The life of the Linux kernel 4.7 series is coming to the end. At least in terms of its support, which will be ended by new released kernel 4.7.10.. After that, users should move to 4.8 series. Alternatively, it is also possible to use the LTS series 4.4, which will be supported for next 15 months. More information
Intel holds the 3D XPOINT memory
It has already been more than a year since Intel introduced the upcoming 3D XPOINT memory modules. Until now, however, we can not see them in sale – and it seems that we have to wait for them little bit longer. It’s a pity, because new modules are promising small revolution, especially in servers. It is interesting that the attack participated not only in a classic botnet, but also via misusaged IoT devices. The Linux kernel error was found in the parallel memory management. Error labeled CVE-2016-5195 was called as Dirty COW, which can be use to increase the local user rights. Fixes for each series kernel (4.4, 4.7 and 4.8) have already been released. More information
Two critical errors in Joomla
Popular Joomla CMS contains two critical vulnerabilities. They have occured in all versions from 3.4.4 to 3.6.3. Both errors allow user registration, despite the ban by the administrator and the subsequent misusing of these accounts. Both errors have been fixed in the new version 3.6.4. More information
