Results of Challenge Server Deployment in 24 Hours

Bare server deployment and results of challenge

In January, you could take part of 14 days challenge "Deploy a dedicated server within 24 hours or free for a whole month“. How did the challenge turn out and how many clients got a free server for a month?

In our data center, upon the providing of our services, we check not only the efficiency of our work, the knowledge of the processes within various test scenarios, but above all the quality and speed of communication of our technical support. In fact, we decided some time ago to cover these efforts with a quality management standard, i.e. ISO: 9001 certification.

We defended our internal process settings in the front of the certification authority TÜV SÜD Czech few weeks ago, thus our ISO:9001 certification has been retained, but this was not enough for us. In the second half of January we decided to test our quality management processes with you within the challenge: “Deploy a dedicated server within 24 hours or free for a month”.

Measuring methodology

During the two weeks of the event, among many other services, 9 dedicated servers were ordered at a special price in a single configuration (event details). 5 servers were ordered during standard working hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-8pm), orders for 2 servers arrived at night and the remaining 2 arrived at the weekend. We started measuring the time from the receipt of payment for a given server and we stopped measuring only when an email message with access data and network settings was sent to the client.

Preparation and deployment of a physical server within 1 hour

It may seem that server deploying is just a matter of minutes, when technical support transports the server from point A to point B and plugs it in, and honestly, this is usual case. However, we measured the entire process of setting up a service. Starting with the order, during which everyone needs to know what to do, who to contact and what the output of their actions is.

  • 1) The order must be accepted and processed by our sales department. They will prepare a hosting agreement and after signing or receiving payment, they send the request to technical support with the given order parameters for implementation
  • 2) Technical support will pick up the server from our stock, place it in the data center, prepare power and data connections, assign IP addresses and forward the prepared data link and monitoring to the network administrators for activation
  • 3) As soon as the network administrators prepared all variables, technical support tests the connection establishment. After that, the ordered server and service is ready for the client and for flawless operation.

How we measure the response and delivery time

Based on the measured data, we found that the average time required by technical support to deploy a server is 5 hours and 40 minutes. We mention average, because the test took place in full operation, which is always a bit different when receiving dozens of requests per day (we are not talking only about orders) and at night. Our technical achieved the best times at the weekend and at night, when one of the offered dedicated server was deployed in 50 minutes after receiving the order. On the contrary, during the working week, between 8:00 and 20:00, when corporate clients usually contact us with standard operation requests and other services are implemented, the server activation time hereby increased.

Winners? All of us

Even though none of our clients got reduced server for free, all of us became winners. Both our new clients, who were able to start using their servers at a discounted price just a few hours after ordering, and us, because we could test the set up processes as well as responsiveness of our technical support, which is a win-win situation for all clients.

New dedicated server model

Due to the great popularity of the dedicated server with AMD Ryzen processor, which was confirmed by this challenge, we decided to improve the configuration of the original action server. You can now order the new model with enhanced RAM and two SSDs of almost 2TB capacity at a reduced price. Try our quality bare servers with delivery in a few hours.
