On October 5, 2016 at 3:10 PM a widespread power outage affected the Coolhousing Data Center. The failure happened during the planned maintenance work in the final stage of new power backup generator installation. However we were well prepared for the operation, co-operating closely with the electric generator supplier technicians, when the backup power circuit was tested, certified backup battery of central UPS had unexpectedly discharged, although the UPS electronics still showed about 50% of battery capacity left.
The situation has been immediately responded by all of our technicians and during Wednesday´s afternoon and evening all services were gradually restored.
The need of more diesel engine power was due to a significant increase in power supply demand. This newly installed engine should ensure greater security and service availability of power supply in the coming years.
At this moment, we are not aware of any neglection on our side during the installation and the cause of the UPS accident is to be further investigated by the UPS supplier.
Please accept my apologies.
